Remove label, rinse, and put in the recycling.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend for craft brewers to put their beers in cans instead of glass bottles. Unfortunately, many of those cans have labels on them that may negatively affect their recyclability. According to the Aluminum Association, the use of plastic labels and shrink sleeves may impact the conductivity of aluminum containers at recycling sorting facilities, and therefore they may be sorted incorrectly.

Whenever possible, remove the label on these cans before putting them in the recycling bin.   You can still return them for redemption with the labels on them, but if you are putting them in the bin, it is best to remove the label.

Some labels are not easy or are impossible to remove.  We still encourage you to recycle those cans!
