Does this mean that all colored plastic is bad?  Why are clear plastic cups okay to be recycled?

Unless the color is black, generally speaking, colored plastics are not a problem and can be recycled as long as they are in the shapes that we have indicated are okay (bottles, jars, jugs and tubs). The reason we say no to colored cups is that they are simply not made of high-value plastic.
